Season Opener

The #FAWNLBigKickOff23 is on Sunday 20th August and it couldn’t get much bigger!

The fixtures are out and we now know that we will kick off the 2023-24 FAWNL Division One North campaign with the shortest away journey of the season as the opening day becomes derby day.

We hit the road for the first game of the season and make the short trip to face Middlesbrough Women. Last seasons encounters between the sides saw a 3-1 scoreline in both games, as Boro won the first meeting between the sides in their home game before Norton took their revenge at Station Road when Erin Boyle, Katie Ormerod and Bianca Owens all found the back of the net against their former side.

The 3-1 win at Station Road was part of a strong finish to the campaign that allowed Chris Burton and his side to finish on a record points total and record league position, which saw them finish three places and nine points clear of this seasons opening day opponents.

It’s set to be a cracking opening game of the season and we can’t wait to welcome as many of our fans as possible on the short trip to see the side kick off what will be another exciting season in the FAWNL.
