White is the new Amber

We are delighted to announce our first signing of the summer as Sophie White makes the move from Tyneside to Teesside.

Sophie started her footballing journey as a junior player playing at Gilesgate before getting picked up by Sunderland AFC Academy. She stayed at the Wearside club until she was 16. At 18 years old, White moved to Chester to continue her education and during her time at the University of Chester she competed at a high level of the BUCS Women’s Football.

Upon the completion of her degree, Sophie moved back to the North East where she signed for Tier 5 side South Shields. Playing predominantly as a centre midfielder, White has spent the last 3 years at the club and due to her ability on the ball and physicality,

has found herself used as a versatile player covering a number of different positions including full back.

Sophie has impressed the management team during pre season and we are extremely pleased to welcome her to the club and look forward to seeing her in the amber and black this season.
